The push for autonomous AI stems from a sobering reality regarding human error. Much of modern medicine operates on algorithms, following strict guidelines for treating everything from hypertension to chemotherapy side effects. Yet despite their training, physicians still struggle with consistency. Predictably, this proposal has sparked significant backlash from established institutions like the American Medical Association, which views autonomous care as a threat to the sacred doctor patient relationship. Critics point out that many current studies rely on simulations or short term data rather than lifelong patient outcomes. There is also the enduring concern that robots cannot provide the empathy or eye contact essential for building trust.
